Rare Items: 3) H&M Plaid

ima moon

In the beginning of my collecting years after acquiring a tiny little collection consisting of one BB Dakota and one Billabong Hannah Jacket, I decided to set off and try to find SOMETHING that resembled that cute little button down shirt Bella wore in the beginning of Twilight. For some reason it was appealing to me in a way no other item was. I think it may have been the fact that every times I went to go see twilight in theaters (I counted 8 times) I became more and more infatuated with this whole story. When the opening began, I would get butterflies in my stomach and the second I saw Kristen Stewart on-screen, I knew I was back on the 2 hour ride through Twilight. pheonixI guess I had subconsciously roped together that feeling with this top. Obviously, I needed to have it.

I hate to admit it but I was HORRIBLE at trying to find good alternatives. I found one such alt. in H&M. I was pretty bad, but on the right track. My lovely roommate back in the day modeling said alt

Later on I would learn the top had been spotted as an H&M Plaid. Reading all the reviews and seeing none on ebay except for previous listings pretty much geared me up to except the fact that I would never in a million years own one.

2 years later proved me wrong when I saw a listing on Ebay for quite the pretty penny. No one was touching it. Though it was expensive, the price wasnt unheard of. I had the extra cash, and I wish I could say I gracefully hit the Buy It Now button without a care in the world. Truth is, where I was had no internet connection, so I demanded my friend lend me his phone while I obsessed over the listing for about 5 minutes before I actually bought it, all the while my friend telling me I was crazy.

I received the package just in enough time to take it to Forks with me for my first officially Stephenie Meyer Day as Bella Swan.

Now on to the good stuff!

The actual fabric itself is actually really soft. Though soft, there is no give. It feels delicate, but is actually very strong. The color of the fabric as a whole could be considered a bit muted, but when you study it up close, the greens and reds really pop.

My 2 favorite aspects about this top:

A) The shoulder straps. For some reason I just love any shirt or jacket that does that! I feel like it kind of achieves the look crazy shoulder pads were trying to achieve.

B) The snap buttons! These buttons make getting dressed super easy!

Speaking of buttons, this unique plaid pattern allows you to wear the top buttoned or unbuttoned due to the slight curves in the vertical lines. When you have it buttoned, it gives your figure the look of a slim slightly longer torso. When its unbuttoned, the curves in the lines gives the fabric the illusion it’s still hugging your figure.

This top is one of my favorites. It’d be very difficult to let this one go!

Rare Items: 2) The American Rag Thermal

ima moon

Now I know I have blogged about this item before, but seeing as how it still is fairly rare, why not add it to the list! The American Rag Thermal has been sought after by many a Twilight clothing collector since the Twilight film released in theaters. Bella Swan was seen wearing this thermal when she introduces Edward Cullen to Charlie, and wore it under her jacket throughout the baseball scene.

I’m going to be completely and 100% honest. This top has gone for over $1,000.00 on eBay. Keeping that in mind while I tried this on for the first time lead to nothing but disappointment. Let me elaborate.

Way back when Twilight first came out and I started the blog, I (obviously) did a lot of research on Bella’s clothes, the brands etc. The one top I would always see come across on forums or in conversation was this infamous green top with adorable looking “print”. I’m not quite sure why this top in particular became a “thing” where everyone had to have one, but the American Rag popped up more on people’s wanted lists than her BB Dakota jacket (before it was rereleased). Naturally this intrigued me. As years passed by the American Rag grew in demand, but the amount available dwindled. About two and a half years ago the top reached its all time high. It was a once in a billion chance for this thermal to pop up on eBay and when it did, it sold for an amount too painful to admit.

Jumping ahead to when I tried this thermal on for the first time.

The term thermal in my opinion is used loosely. The “print” on the fabric is actually shear. You definitely need to wear a tank top underneath otherwise you’ll be getting a breeze and someone will be getting a show!wpid-storageemulated0PicturesIbc-Blogging-photos2013-12-30-09.18.17-1.jpg.jpg
The actual feel for the fabric is delightfully soft and the pouch in the front breaks up what would be a plain-looking shirt with a pattern.

The hood is probably my favorite part. It balances out the pouch in the front and gives your profile a slimming effect.

Over all, I love this thermal. I am incredibly thankful to my friend for gifting it to me (she found it for $20.00!) and I consider  myself incredibly lucky! That being said… in a world where I had not received this as a gift…  this girl’s wallet is a bit too small to love it for $1,000.00!

NEW SPOT! Bella’s Bailey 44 T Rex Tab Sleeve Henley with Velour Trim

imma line

Breaking Dawn Part 2 Bella Cullen has a new spot!

tab henley

tab heley

Bella is seen sporting off the Bailey 44 T Rex Tab Sleeve Henley with Velour Trim in the scene where she and Edward are opening the gift box the Volturi had sent to them.

This beautiful top is stunning with its intense V-cut collar, shirt tail hem, and cotton/ polyester material blend.

It is no surprise Bella would be spotted wearing such a top, seeing as how she had worn the American Eagle Military Henley in Breaking Dawn Part 1, with similar chest pockets, and the Splendid Tab Sleeve Striped Henley from the end of Breaking Dawn Part 2, with the same tab sleeve design.

Though this lovely top is definitely a Bella Swan clothing junkie’s must have, it’s just about sold out on every website (including this one) and retailed for about $152.00. Time will only tell if this item will ever return, but until then… Happy Ebaying!

Keep The Sparkle!

ima moon

Yes… it is true, the Twilight Saga has finished up at the box office. Twilight conventions are closing their doors, and the cast is scattering, moving on to other things.

Even though this is a reality, it doesn’t mean the magic is gone. There are millions of  fans scattered all over the world who have dedicated their time and money into ways to give back to the community through Twilight. From donating blood to making dreams come true, why stop now? Why let all of that hard work and passion go to waste?

I’m here to challenge everyone to keep the sparkle alive. Though the movies are over, the story lives on. So keep donating blood and volunteer to read books to children at your local library. Who cares how many times you and your friends have read Twilight, make a day to have a themed book discussion. Definitely don’t stop having those crazy twilight marathons at your local theater either!

Rock on with your twiself and cosplay your heart out.

For me, there will always be one more item to spot, and one more twilight friend to make.

So, my friends, I thank you for keeping this tiny piece of the infinite twilight community alive.

You can bet I will continue to blog here with updates and new spots, and answer any questions you may have!

Keep the sparkle!

Bella Swan’s BD2 ‘Black’ Jacket with Gold Buttons

After being in complete shock from the final installment of the Twilight Saga, it was time to get down to business and find some Breaking Dawn part 2 wardrobe! I had noticed Bella in specific had so many jackets this film, no doubt thanks to Alice Cullen . One jacket in specific people had been trying to spot prior to the release of the film was a black jacket with golden studded buttons seen here:

My good friend Vee, creator and moderator of IBC’s sister blog, Go Ask Alice Cullen, had traveled here to the US to visit and see the movie with me! of course she wanted to hit up all the malls in the area (what Alice cosplayer wouldn’t?). We walked by H&M, J. Crew, and just about any other store you could think of that has had clothes featured in the saga. We had nearly walked passed Banana Republic when she decided she wanted t go in. I followed, spacing out, knowing anything I saw would be out of my price range for the month, and then locked my eyes on a jacket on the end of a sale rack….. This jacket –

This jacket is the Banana Republic Belted Pocket coat. It retailing in the store for $130.00, I was able to get it for $60.00 on the clearance rack, and the SKU number is 416134-00-1

Vee and I were able to match up all the seams and buttons to those on Bella’s coat, even the buckles on the collar. The only thing I’m still a bit stumped about is the color.

The color of this jacket is technically a navy blue though it could pass as a dark charcoal. the collar on the inside is made of a corduroy which would explain the contrast of the two “blacks” on Bella’s jacket, the actual coat looking black and the collar looking an even darker black. On this coat, it is a maroon color.

A couple of different theories I have:

– this is the jacket, just shot in a dark lighting

– this is the jacket but they dyed the collar black because the maroon was too distracting and eye-catching for the scene (They have altered clothing in the past)

– the navy jacket with the maroon collar this years jacket, and Kristen Stewart’s jacket was actually last years jacket. I was told, last year they had this jacket in black, this year they did not. I tried finding picture of it i black, but unfortunately I could not find the exact jacket in black. I did however find black jackets made by Banana Republic similar to the make of this one, but instead of the gold buttons, they were silver. I wonder if last years buttons were silver on this coat as well.

Although the colors are questionable, I believe this is the same make and brand as the jacket Bella is wearing in Breaking Dawn part two. I will however, keep an opened mind to anyone who thinks they have spotted the jacket with another brand!

Let me know what you all think!

Bella Swan’s Heirloom Hair Comb – Where To Buy The REAL DEAL

When MTV released the unforgettable Breaking Dawn 1 official teaser trailer, about 3 things stuck out to me. One, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen’s wedding invitation (I told my self I would definitely be recreating them for no reason at some point), two, the cut of the top of Bella Swan’s wedding dress (as a Bella Swan impersonator and cosplayer, every detail counts, and no matter how small the clues were, I grasped on to every bit of them) and three, Bella Swan’s heirloom bridal comb.

Seeing the hair piece, I KNEW it would be out in stores before the movie would be out in the cinemas. There was no way NECA (the licensed collectables company that produces prop replica jewelry for the Twilight Saga, among other things) would pass up this incredible opportunity. What twi-girl WOULDN’T want that comb?

A couple of months later, Necca did in fact release the comb in stores as well as online. At the time, I myself was unsure of whether or not I wanted to purchase it right away. In the end, I was obligated, being hired to work a Breaking Dawn wedding event for Fandango, but that’s another story for another time.

I was very impressed by the quality of the comb, and thought it a nice touch to add the blue velvet box. After seeing the movie, I couldn’t help but to think how Summit acquired THEIR comb. There could have been so many possibilities.

The answer lies with The Gilded Lilly, a jewelry store known for their pearls and unique styles, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Gilded Lilly was commissioned by Summit Entertainment to create the bridal comb, and actually worked with studio representatives. To read more about it, click here!

So now I’m sure you are all wondering if we can buy it. I’m pleased to say that the Gilded Lilly has made it possible to buy THE EXACT style used in the movie made with all of the same materials. Though the store offers different versions of the bridal comb from $29.99 – $36,000.00, the one used in the film goes for $399.00, and is called Bella’s Bridal Comb – Heirloom Edition. You can check it out here!

In The Car – Bella’s Cream pullover Sweater

I have had many people ask about this one sweater in particular. It is a very simple yet elegant piece. The scoop neck rests gently on the shoulders, and the slight ridges in the material give it a subtle texture.

I for one, am curious about the costume designer’s motives. It is a lovely sweater, but If I had just found out I was having a half vampire baby no one knew anything about, and my husband was not too happy about it… a beautiful sweater would not have been my first choice. Perhaps that was the closest thing to appropriate and comfortable that Alice Cullen had packed, or perhaps it was just something that would work well with the shot. Either way, it is obvious Alice is one amazing fashionista.

This Sweater is known as the Hive & Honey Open Neck Lurex Pullover Sweater American Eagle Short Sleeve Sweater. Unfortunately, it isn’t being sold any more, but it has been spotted a couple of times on eBay. It has also been spotted at Plato’s Closet. If you live near one, I suggest you check it out, you may find more than one Bella Swan piece there!
